MLK Day Workshop 2024
MLK Day Special Workshop (Post Event Recap)
Mon, Jan 15 was Martin Luther King Day and we held a special fundraiser/workshop that day to introduce the Cincinnati Lindy Hop community to the issues of empathy and racial awareness within the Lindy Hop & Jazz Dance World. I'm excited to reported that we had 20 community members support and/or participate in the event. We watched a video workshop, had discussion about it, and raised $429. Special thanks to Hoffner Lodge, which donated the space for the event. During our workshop, those in attendance caucused to determine where/how to donate the money that was raised and the division ended up as follows:
$179 to Black Lindy Hoppers Fund https://blacklindyhoppersfund.org/
$139 to Collective Voices For Change https://www.collectivevoicesforchange.org/
$111.00 to the Frankie Manning Foundation https://www.frankiemanningfoundation.org/
I encourage everyone to become aware of and support these three excellent organizations who's work is focused within the Global Lindy Hop and Jazz Dance Community.

Projects will be led by different individuals. Our vision is to create a working space that will evolve over time as more people enter the conversation. With everyone’s participation, we want to build the resources to bring about tangible changes in each local community and in the larger structure of our social fabric.
